A beautiful box of chocolates, champagne and gorgeous flowers are always welcomed on Valentine's Day. However, if you are thinking about adding an engagement ring to that list, then check out our top 10 Valentine's proposal ideas which don’t need too much planning.

A Day In Paris
Paris is the most romantic city in the world.  Your fiancé to be, may think that a day trip to Paris is just the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day, leaving you relaxed to plan a surprise proposal.  Paris is a beautiful city with an abundance of art galleries, restaurants, old markets and historical landmarks.  There are so many things to do and so many ways to propose in Paris.

Proposal Countdown
You can spread your love over the 14 days leading up to Valentine’s Day.  Every morning you can gift your partner a thoughtful gift.  It doesn’t have to be expensive gifts but please feel free to splash out as well.  It could be simple and quirky gifts but keep in mind the romance aspect of this process. Finally, on the 14th of February, you can surprise your partner with a gift of a diamond ring and ask the question.

Picnic
You can get a friend or a family member or even your local wedding professional to help you set up a surprise picnic at a spot which is special to you both.  And whilst out on a walk (you plan your route to take you that way), you both come across a beautiful set up of a delicious picnic for you both.  This would be a perfect time for you to get down on one knee with ring in hand and pop the question.  Be sure to enjoy the picnic afterwards!

In The Snow
This year, the UK is seeing quite a bit of snow, it might be cold but it is also romantic.  You can find a local spot where the snow is untouched, wake up early in the morning and walk to the spot to scatter some rose petals or paper red hearts.  After setting the scene, you take your partner for a morning walk and when you stumble upon the scene (set by yourself), you will be ready to propose.

Love Notes
You can buy a pack of small Valentin’s cards, or if you’re feeling creative then you can also buy some blank cards to sketch your own illustrations.  And then there’s always the option of plain paper which you can just cut into small pieces and make little note cards.  Whichever way you do this, what’s important is the message you write in them.  You can do a full series of little notes to remind your partner of your time together so far, and save the last one to write your proposal question.

Roses
This one is probably the most common one people go for on Valentine’s day.  If you are buying red roses, make sure you get the best quality roses from your local florist and not your local supermarket.  Just ask yourself if you would buy the engagement ring from your local supermarket if they sold them?  Quality does count! After all your love for one another is valuable.  You can get a beautiful selection of red roses from your local florist and use them to dress your entire bedroom while your partner is asleep.  When they wake up in the morning, they will wake up to a room full of floral wonder and you down on one knee ready to ask the question.

Chocolates
Before you go and buy chocolates, make sure you do your research on exactly the type of chocolates your partner likes.  Then you can splash out and buy as much of it as you like.  There is no such thing as ‘less is more’ when it comes to chocolates.  You can gift your partner with a huge box of chocolates, but before gifting you can open the box and replace one of the chocolates with an engagement ring, right in the centre of the box so it’s seen instantly upon opening.  When they open the box, that’s the time you should be ready to kneel and ask the question.

Sightseeing Surprise
Pick a place which has significance to you both.  But this needs help from the general public so it can’t be middle of nowhere with no one around.  Once you arrive at your destination, you can ask a member of the public to take a picture of you both on your phone, set it to video and ask them to press the record button once you’re ready.  Then surprise your partner with getting down on one knee to pop the question.  Fingers crossed the random stranger you asked to record it for you captures the moment perfectly.

Treasure Hunt
This will require a little more planning than the others on the list but it’s worth it. Start off with a note and a clue at home first thing in the morning.  Make the clues really easy as you don’t want your partner to be going on a random goose chase and spoil their experience with frustration.  You will have more clues to different spots through out the route.  Ideally each spot will have a little gift attached to the clue for the next destination.  The final destination will be the one where you will be waiting on one knee with a beautiful diamond ring in hand.

Recreate Your First Date
This one is quite possibly our favourite one as it’s so romantic and it will take you down memory lane with beautiful happy memories.  Remember the very first time you asked your partner on a date?  Now remember what you did and the place you both went to for your first date.  It could also be a place where you first said ‘I love you’ to each other.  If it was a restaurant, then make a reservation at the same place and request the same table.  If you still have the same clothes you were wearing that day then go for it and wear the identical outfit or at least wear something very similar.  You can start your proposition by explaining why you have brought them there on this Valentine’s Day.

Whichever way you decide to ask, be romantic and do it in a way, which is personal to you both.
