With the makeup industry saturated with “MUAS’ (Makeup Artists), Gemma takes pride in designing a bespoke look for each client rather than re-creating the insta-glam trend looks. She is passionate about creating real makeup for real women. “I believe in honesty for the benefit of the client, so don’t believe everything you see on Instagram. If you saw the same makeup application in person, unedited, you would realise how much editing takes place to create that flawless finish which promotes unrealistically expectations for the client. Also this style of makeup looks much heavier in person - so while it might look great on camera it looks and feels much heavier on real skin. I never edit real client photos. What you see is what you get.”

Gemma knows all too well that the word “luxury” can often be thrown around frequently in a way to attract clients however, she firmly believes “luxury” is all about the quality of knowledge, client care and industry experience - and not just having high end products in her kit. Infact, Gemma’s kit is made up of a vast mix of brands from luxury through to lesser known independent brands. Promoting independent brands is actually something Gemma is very passionate about.
As well as being a successful Makeup Artist, Gemma is the Beauty Editor for British Bride magazine and Creative Beauty Director for British Editorial magazine. Resulting from her industry experience in editorial fashion and beauty, red carpet and celebrity clientele, she was delighted to be asked to take on these roles. Reviewing beauty products from high end brands to local indie brands means she has an extensive product knowledge and this is where her passion for sharing love of indie brands began. She believes there are so many amazing products on the market that are not as visible as the counter products in department stores.

Gemma’s signature bridal/red carpet style is all about creating beautiful radiant skin and enhancing features rather than masking them. She says “This is one of the most important events of a bride’s life - she wants to feel her most beautiful yet still recognisable. Timeless makeup will never be outdated - particularly when you look back through your treasured wedding album in years to come”.
Gemma takes her inspiration from red carpet glamour where classic beauty is at the heart of designing a statement look, perfect for the modern bride.

Choosing the right Makeup Artist for a wedding or red carpet event is very important. With makeup styles varying from the natural/boho look through to the heavier looks seen on social media, it can feel overwhelming knowing where to start. Gemma recommends choosing a bridal Makeup Artist based on the style that most resonates with your personal preference on their portfolio. If you are a natural bride, it would not make sense to choose a Makeup Artist whose portfolio shows extensive images of heavy trend looks and vice versa.

Makeup is very specialist - just because a person adds “MUA” to their name on their business profile does not necessarily mean they are specialist in the area you are looking for. There is a huge difference in doing makeup on your own face in your bedroom for YouTube and knowing how to apply it on a range of skin tones, skin types, face shapes, eye shapes etc. When choosing your bridal Makeup Artist/Hair Stylist for your big day, Gemma advises this should be high on your priority list, up there with choosing your dress, accessories, venues and a quality photographer. “When you look back at the memories of the day, you will remember the excitement of celebrating the day surrounded by your loved ones and you will never forget the feeling of putting your dress on, with your hair and makeup done - feeling the most confident and beautiful you have ever felt. The smaller details of the day will be forgotten about in time- so pick your priority suppliers wisely”.
Gemma offers bespoke 1:1 tuition for brides who are choosing to get married abroad but have not booked a Makeup Artist for the big day… she can teach you how to create your own beautiful look with confidence - or even better, take her with you. She will happily travel to your chosen international destination.
